HUMAN FACTORS CASTDIGITAL MEDIA LAB

About the lab

A place to practice science communication.

Human Factors Cast Digital Media Lab focuses on science communication. We bring people from all backgrounds together to communicate psychology, engineering, ergonomics, and human factors through accessible media.

From a podcast to a lab

Human Factors Cast began in 2016. The Digital Media Lab formed in 2020 as a place to support the show, develop new projects, and experiment with other media formats.

Today, the lab is a program of Human Factors Cast Foundation. Its work supports public education through research, media, and resources about people and systems.

About the Foundation

Our purpose

Make evidence understandable.

We connect findings from research and practice with examples people recognize. We explore how different formats can help people learn about the field.

How we approach the work

Curiosity, evidence, and collaboration.

Start with evidence

Follow sources, check claims, and explain the limits of what a study can tell us.

Make it accessible

Use plain language and useful examples. Build captions, transcripts, and readable layouts into the work.

Learn through practice

Develop skills through shared projects, mentorship, and feedback. Members receive credit for their contributions and opportunities to show published work in their portfolios.

New to human factors?

Human factors examines people’s capabilities, limitations, and needs as they interact with systems. It informs everything from a car’s controls to a hospital’s workflow.
